About us
Friends of Newlands Park is a Voluntary Association formed in January 2020 by local residents. Our purpose to improve the quality of Newlands Park and its facilities so that all its users and wildlife can continue to enjoy the benefits of what has been described as “one of Glasgow’s more beautiful, small parks”
Volunteer
We want to maintain our beautiful park, and continue to build a vibrant and welcoming community and we need your help!
Can you spare a few hours, a few days? There are lots of ways to support us – you don’t have to be a gardener.
Habitats
The green space of Newlands Park supports biodiversity by providing a range of habitats for plants and wildlife. The pond has been designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The park also contains an eclectic and impressive collection of trees.

Tennis
Our four courts were refurbished in summer 2023 and are run by the Newlands Park Community Tennis Centre. They are available to book by members and non-members.
Pétanque in the park? We have recently (Jul 2025) applied for funding to have a pétanque piste in the park as a result of a recent survey we conducted that demonstrated that there is a demand for it from a wide range of park visitors.
Cafe
The Dandelion Cafe is a commercially run cafe located opposite the tennis courts and serves coffee, cakes, brunch, lunch & more throughout the day.
Play area
There is a small play park up at the top of the hill, ideal for the little ones while the older kids explore the park.
Friends of Newlands Park have set up a small working group to develop plans to improve the play facilities, based on results of a survey we carried out in 2024, but we need volunteers to make our ideas a reality! Can you help? Contact volunteer@friendsofnewlandspark.org
What else would you like to see in the park? We are currently conducting a short survey to seek opinions and ideas on how to make the park better for everyone. We would value your feedback so please do let us know what you think. Survey link.
Donate
Friends of Newlands Park rely on donations & grants to fund a range of activities & infrastructure projects that benefit all users of Newlands Park.
